Kratom Boom: Popularity Rising in the US

Kratom Boom

Kratom iskratom boom a plant from the coffee family originally from Southeast Asia. It is currently being sold online, in marijuana dispensaries, convenience stores and smoke shops. It has been consumed for hundreds of years, but it has recently become popular in the United States.

A recent article published in The Daily Astorian talks about the plant, poison control, help for illness, and its legality. I have summed up the main points here.

The pain community have pointed the lack of prescription drug availability as a reason for the kratom boom. Recreational users are touted it as an alternative to more powerful opiates.

There have been reported cases to CDC, but they’re speculated to be caused to the use of higher doses than typical recommended.

Kratom has been noted as a giant help for the pain community and they strongly defend this plant. The American Kratom Association is also known for defending kratom and its medicinal purposes.

A final note on kratom’s current usage as both recreational and medicinal by Clatsop County District Attorney Josh Marquis:

The plant is considered a drug by law enforcement. Like being under the influence of Benadryl or a high-caffeine drink, drivers can be charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants if it is determined that kratom affected their abilities to operate a vehicle.

Very excited to try for pain control. I have RA and have chronic pain, depression, anxiety and sleeplessness. Will report my results.

Kratom works wonders but there’s two points I want to bring up. My wife used it for a couple months due to severe RL and bone pain. Worked great but now she can’t stop without withdrawal symptoms.
Number 2. I have a bad liver from Hep-C. If I use more than a 1/2 teaspoon I get very sick. It’s only because I can’t process it so if you too have a bad liver, beware.
All in all Kratom is a great herb and the Government needs to keep out of it. People CANT OD in it. Getting withdrawals is a short case of flu like symptoms so the Gov doesn’t need worry. They don’t worry of course they just want control so they can make money of of decent Americans.

The AKA is still fighting for Kratom! There is still hope left.

You got me very worried. I swear this is going to really hurt those of us who use Kratom wisely and within normal limits for chronic pain control. I had no life left. I had been on medications for my conditions and every narcotic there is. I had to go through terrible withdrawals and got off all the medications except Predisone and now I am stuck on it and it has terrible long term effects.
But after I got off everything else and the narcotics I had no life. I was almost bed ridden. My husband had to be my caretaker. We are getting ready to move to a Medical Marijuana state in case they ban Kratom which after your News Letter they will because so many people are abusing it.
Thanks alot now all of us who use it for the right reason and within normal limits once again lose out. They should not sell it so freely that will bring Sessions the CDC and FDA down on it and they will pass the SITSA Act and then we all lose.
I studied Kratom the alkaloids and kept a journal with each strain and the effects. It takes a long time to know which one works for each person. Just because it is an herb doesn’t make it harmless. You have to be a knowledgeable and responsible user. This is nothing for ignorant people to take. Do your homework before you even try Kratom.
This really disturbs me and Coastline I am not sure what your agenda is but you are going to go out of business too ya know???
If you care about Kratom and keeping it an herb for those who need chronic pain control and know their Kratom then join the Kratom Association and learn all you can from The Kratom Bible. Not some Newsletter on a Suppliers site.
IT is totally going to hurt us all and we all lose. Sessions is out for Kratom and this just gives him more ammunition sad it gave me back my life. But I studied for 8 months 8 to 10 hours a day. I probably know more than Coastline does about Kratom and it’s effects.
This is a sad day for Kratom and the responsible users and responsible sellers. Now it is being abused so we will lose the right. Believe me the Trump Administration does not care about any of us.
    So sorry,

      Hi Mary-Anne,

As a blogger and a scientist, I do my research. I’m always checking the AKA website for updates on the war to keep kratom legal. We’re very enthused kratom has helped you out! It is testimonials like yours that will help keep it legal. Let your voice be heard. Like all substances, there is always a window of abuse. There will always be responsible and irresponsible users. There will be recreational and medicinal users. It is up to the medicinal community to raise their voice higher than the recreational ones. I am subscribed to the AKA. Let’s not precipitate ourselves, there is still hope and hope is the last thing that is lost.
